The Pros of Being Gay (Take 4)

Hi Welcome!

Work work work work work. But, you don't care about any of that. Great news, my bedroom has now been repaired, and J and I have started the move out of the guest room and back to our room, and more importantly, our bathroom. How exciting is that?!? (It's exciting for us, trust me).

Anyway, without any promises of more frequent blog posting, I come with another installment of "The Pros of Being Gay."

This one came to me while out celebrating St. Patrick's Day at a local gay watering hole. Some friends and I were sitting in a booth, enjoying ourselves, when all of the sudden someone gets pushed off of a stool and then another guy jumps on top of him and punches him several times (not in the face, thankfully). The guy doing the punching stopped after a couple of blows and then ran out the door.

After it was all over, I was kind of stunned (and I realized that while it was happening I started yelling at them like they were my 2 dogs in a fight, why brought some lulz later on). Anyway, the reason for the stunned response was that in the 7 years or so that I've been going to gay bars/clubs, this is the first time I've ever seen a fight involving gay guys. I've seen my fair share of fights in straight bars, sporting events, etc., and I've even seen a couple of lesbian fights, but up until that night, I had never seen a fight involving two gay guys.

So, to sum it up--The Pros of Being Gay (Take 4) is: Not having to deal with fights at bars (or at least not as many).

Happy Anniversary to us--10 Years!!

Where have I been? Man, when work gets busy, everything else goes to the wayside.

But, I'm back, and I have a great announcement. Today is J's and my 10 year anniversary! How crazy is that?!? J likes to tell people we met when we were 13, just to watch their reactions. It's kind of funny to see how many people fall for it. Actually, we were wee college students the young age of 19 and 20.

To commemorate this very special occasion, I have written a little diddy or two.

First one (it's a little self absorbent, which I find hilarious):

it was ten years ago today, when J and T were meeting.
there were three little twinkles in their eyes, when over the threshold J was carried.
J and T are the greatest, you're the greatest couple the world has ever seen.
we love you both, we wish you the best, happy anniversary, great joy and happiness.

happy anniversary, happy anniversary to you.
happy anniversary, happy anniversary to you.
T you're the king of the bread winner's heart, and J, you're the queen of homos.
Parker, Twilo and Dane, our lucky son and daughters.
happy anniversary, happy anniversary to you.
happy anniversary, happy anniversary to you.

Here's the second one:

You are moving on a crowded street
Through various shades of people
In the summers harshest heat
A story in your eye
Well, speak until your minds at ease

Ten years come and gone so fast I might as well be dreaming
Sunny days have burned a path
Across another season
A fortune rises to the sky
Ten years come and gone so fast
You are driving down an empty road
Beside a shady river
When the sky turns dark as stone
The trees begin to shiver
The grace of God is nigh

Ten years come and gone
And that flash has never been forgotten
Sunny days have burned a path
Across another season
How do the powerless survive
Ten years come and gone so fast

And if you look into your future life
Ten years from this question
Do you imagine a familiar light
Burning in the distance
The love that never died

Ten years come and gone so fast
I might as well be dreaming
Sunny days have burned a path
Across another season
Ten years come and gone so fast
Sunny days have burned a path

Ok, so maybe I didn't write these myself, but bonus points if you can tell me where they came from!
