Gays Can Be Cured- Just Get Lobotomized
I caught this story over at
Box Turtle Bulletin. Believe it or not, there's still a doctor out there that is advocating curing gays. Oh wait, you already knew that. That's like all I talk about over here.
Ok, so here's the catch, there's still a doctor out there that is advocating curing gays through the use of
lobotomies, castration,
aversion (including electroshock) therapy, and lifetime drug regimens. I thought this was a joke at first, and honestly, I'm not still 100% it's not a joke, but if this is real,
Dr. Carl Weber, of the International
Institute for Psychiatric Medical Research (it sounds so official!), is all for fixing gays through the most updated scientific methods, like--you know--
lobotomy. And, he claims a success rate of near 100%!
But don't fret, worried gays, apparently
lobotomies don't turn you into zombies (that's "just for movies and television programs"). It's just like removing your appendix, you see.
And, if you're skeptical--you only need to look at the 2
uncited case studies to ease your doubt. I mean, it doesn't get more believable than that, right?
Sounds safe enough to me. Sign me up, I guess!
Transgender Kids
I ran across an
article today about a transgender boy that had his breasts removed at the age of 15. I've seen stories on television showing grade-school aged kids living as transgedered. Honestly, I'm not sure what I think.
I hear the stories about how much happier these kids are once they live life according to the gender they feel comfortable in. Parents tell stories about how letting their children make the transition (either partially or totally) has basically saved their kids lives. And, honestly, I see where they are coming from. I'm sure it's liberating to see a depressed, unhappy child come out of his or her shell to live life to it's fullest.
But. How young is too young? Letting a boy take on the persona of a girl at a young age is one thing. But, hormone treatments at 12? Breast removal at 15? These are huge decisions where there is often no turning back. You have to be at least 18 to get a tattoo because of the irreversible nature of the procedure. Obviously a tattoo and a transgender youth aren't the same thing, but the idea is the same. This is an irreversible procedure for the most part.
Kids are kids, and unfortunately their decisions aren't always thought out. I'm not going to say that this boy or any other transgender youth isn't going to be transgender forever, but shouldn't we at least wait until he is older before we go down this track? I don't know, call me right wing if you must, but I just can't get behind this one.
Wedding Bliss Starts Today in Vermont!
The day is finally here. All the happiness, excitement, planning, stress and whatever else comes with planning a wedding will finally payoff today for a bunch of Vermont gays because today they can legally get married.
Congratulations, Vermont!
On a side note, my friend
DannyBrou has recently found the joy of posting controversial political topics on his status updates on facebook and watching the mayhem that ensues. He said gay marriage would be his next topic. I can't think of a better day than today to do it. Just sayin'.
