Gay Marriage--Take 3!
Connecticut's Supreme Court has paved the way for that state to be the 3rd state to legalize gay marriage.Pretty cool stuff.
Now the question, as some of the commenters over at Box Turtle Bulletin have posed, is whether the timing of this is going to lead to some sort of backlash in the upcoming election.
I see the point, but we really don't have Presidential candidate that is running on a platform to take advantage of this like Bush did. Even the conservative side of the ticket, Sarah Palin shyed away from the gay union rights question when pressed.
What do you think?

I think that the courts are overstepping their bounds. The people should make the definition of marriage.
I do think that a back lash will occur, but I don't think it will surface in the presidential race. Instead we are going to see more and more states pass anti-union amendments.

Thanks for commenting Jim. I think that more anti-marriage amendments are a real possibility.
As for courts overstepping their bounds, though, I disagree. Basically, any time the courts make a ruling that's not views of the majority, someone thinks the courts are overstepping. We forget how much progress has been made because the courts were brave enough to separate themselves from proper opinion.
